Many children in Murugi location miss out on school as their families cannot afford to pay for them to attend. This means they are not afforded the same chances in life as those who can afford it.
HOW YOU CAN HELP
For less than the price of two coffees per month, you can sponsor a child and afford them the education they need to make a positive impact in their community and beyond.
We have sponsors for more than 500 orphans and needy children, but we have many more who need help. If you choose to sponsor a child you will be linked with one child (or more if you like!) and will get annual updates, letters and photographs. Every penny of the money you give for sponsorship will go to assist your child, their school and their community.
PRIMARY SCHOOL - £70 Per Year or £6 Per Month
Sponsored children will receive porridge for breakfast and a simple lunch of githeri (maize and beans) or rice and beans. This is important as they may not receive regular meals at home. School and exam fees are funded as well as some items of uniform in the most needy cases. In addition to these the programme funds medical expenses when necessary.
SECONDARY SCHOOLS - £100 Per Year or £8.50 Per Month
Sponsorship provides a school lunch each day. It also covers basic items such as school,and exam fees. These students often also need extra items such as scientific calculators and paraffin for lamps for evening study and holiday tuition.
SPECIAL EDUCATION NEEDS - £150 Per Year or £12.50 Per Month
Sponsorship pays for breakfast, lunch, cook salary, class assistant salary, medication as
necessary, classroom and educational
resources. The Donna Kelly unit was established to help the most needy children receive an education, many of these children were not afforded any form of education prior to this unit being set up.
